一. Preliminary preparation
1. Clarify demand and market research
Before importing preform molds, you need to clarify your own production needs. Determine the size, shape, precision requirements and expected production scale of the preforms. For example, whether it is used to produce small cosmetic preforms or large beverage preforms, the requirements for molds vary greatly for different uses.
At the same time, conduct sufficient market research. Understand the main suppliers, product quality, price range and market reputation of the Chinese preform mold market. Information can be collected through industry exhibitions, professional websites, trade magazines and other channels. For example, there are many mold manufacturing companies in the Pearl River Delta and Yangtze River Delta regions of China, which have mature technology and rich experience in preform mold manufacturing.
2. Research on laws, regulations and certification requirements
The laws and regulations of the importer's country or region may have specific requirements for imported molds. It is necessary to study the quality standards, safety standards and certification procedures of imported molds. For example, preform molds imported into the European Union may need to comply with CE certification requirements to ensure the safety and compatibility of the molds.
It is also important to understand the relevant regulations in China for the export of preform molds. China has certain quality inspection and supervision procedures for mold exports, such as the need to pass relevant quality certification systems, such as ISO 9001, which can be used as a reference standard for screening suppliers.
3. Find suppliers and establish contacts
Find reliable Chinese preform mold suppliers through various channels. You can use B2B platforms such as Alibaba International Station, participate in Chinese mold exhibitions (such as the China International Mold Technology and Equipment Exhibition), or recommend them through industry associations. When looking for suppliers, pay attention to their production qualifications, experience and reputation.
After establishing contact with potential suppliers, explain your needs to them in detail, including the specifications, quantity, delivery time, packaging requirements, etc. of preform molds. Request suppliers to provide product catalogs, technical parameters, quality assurance measures, and after-sales service information.
二. Supplier evaluation and contract signing
1. Supplier evaluation
Factory inspection: If conditions permit, it is best to conduct an on-site inspection of the supplier's factory. Check the advanced level of its production equipment, the standardization of its production process, the perfection of its quality control system, etc. For example, observe whether the mold processing workshop has high-precision CNC processing equipment, such as a five-axis linkage machining center, which is essential for manufacturing high-precision preform molds.
Sample testing: Require suppliers to provide preform mold samples or preform samples produced using the mold. Perform quality inspections on samples, including dimensional accuracy, appearance quality, material properties, etc. For example, use a three-coordinate measuring machine to detect whether the accuracy of key dimensions of the preform mold meets the requirements, and check whether the surface of the preform is smooth and flawless.
Reference customer evaluation: Ask suppliers for the contact information of their past customers, and communicate with these customers to understand the supplier's product quality, delivery timeliness, after-sales service, etc. For example, understand whether the supplier can deliver the mold as agreed in the contract, and whether it can provide technical support and maintenance services in time when there is a problem with the mold.
2. Contract signing
After determining the supplier, sign a detailed import contract. The contract content should include the specifications, quantity, price, delivery date, payment method, quality standards, packaging and transportation methods, after-sales service and other terms of the preform mold. For example, in the quality standard terms, specific indicators such as the dimensional tolerance range, material composition and performance requirements, and service life of the mold are clearly specified.
For payment methods, a combination of advance payment, delivery payment and warranty deposit can be used. The advance payment is generally about 30% of the contract amount, which is used by the supplier to purchase raw materials and start production; the delivery payment is paid after the supplier completes production and passes inspection, usually 60% of the contract amount; the warranty deposit (about 10%) is paid after a certain warranty period (such as one year) when the mold has no quality problems.
三. Transportation and logistics arrangements
1. Selection of transportation methods
Choose a suitable transportation method according to the size, weight and delivery time requirements of the preform mold. If the mold is small in size, light in weight and has high requirements for delivery time, air transportation can be selected. Although air transportation is expensive, it is fast and can ensure that the mold arrives in time.
For preform molds with larger volume and heavier weight, sea transportation is generally selected. The cost of sea transportation is relatively low, but the transportation time is longer. When choosing sea transportation, pay attention to choosing the appropriate container type, such as a 20-foot or 40-foot standard container, to ensure that the mold can be safely loaded and transported.
2. Packaging and insurance
Require the supplier to properly package the preform mold. The packaging should have sufficient strength and protection to prevent the mold from being damaged during transportation. Generally, wooden boxes are used for packaging, and cushioning materials such as foam plastics and air cushion films are filled between the mold and the wooden box.
It is essential to purchase transportation insurance. The insurance amount should be determined according to the value of the preform mold, covering various risks during transportation, such as collision, loss, flooding, etc. When the goods are lost or damaged, compensation can be obtained in time to reduce economic losses.
3. Logistics tracking and customs clearance assistance
Choose a logistics freight forwarding company with good reputation and rich experience. They can provide tracking services throughout the transportation of goods. The transportation location and status of the mold can be queried in real time through the logistics order number, and the transportation progress can be understood in time.
Logistics freight forwarding companies can also assist in import customs clearance procedures. Importers need to provide relevant documents, such as commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, quality inspection certificates, etc. The customs clearance process may involve the payment of tariffs, value-added tax and other taxes. Importers should understand and make budgets in advance.
四.Acceptance and after-sales service after import
1. Acceptance procedure
After the preform mold arrives at the destination, it shall be inspected and accepted in accordance with the quality standards specified in the contract. The acceptance content includes the appearance inspection of the mold (whether there is damage, deformation, etc.), dimensional accuracy inspection (measurement using precision measuring tools), performance testpet bottle molding (such as trial molds to check the molding quality of the preform), etc.
If quality problems are found in the mold, communicate with the supplier in a timely manner and provide a detailed description of the problem and a test report. According to the terms of the contract, require the supplier to take remedial measures, such as repair, replacement or compensation.
2. After-sales service follow-up
Clarify the after-sales service content with the supplier, such as the warranty period, technical support methods, and repair response time of the mold. During the warranty period, the supplier should provide free mold repair and replacement services caused by quality problems.
Even after the warranty period, a good cooperative relationship should be maintained with the supplier so that technical support and parts supply can be obtained when the mold needs to be repaired or upgraded. At the same time, importers can also reserve some vulnerable parts to reduce the waiting time for mold repair.
